I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Germanics at UW Seattle. My academic interests include the essay genre (photo essays, essay films, online essays), changing publics/public spheres and digital humanities (particularly digital pedagogy and online publishing.) I teach German on a daily basis and have studied in two different university systems (Germany and the US). Thus, I am both interested in undergraduate pedagogy and graduate pedagogy, finding myself often thinking about how doctoral education can be changed not only amidst neoliberal forces at work on many universities, but also in "good enough times" - to use a phrase by Sidonie Smith, former president of the Modern Language Association.
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Germanics at UW Seattle. My academic interests revolve around the photo book, Weimar Germany, changing publics/public spheres, visual culture and digital humanities (particularly digital pedagogy and online publishing.)
Supported by the DH Commons Summer Fellowship from the Simpson Center of the Humanities here at UW Seattle, I am also working on publishing one of my dissertation chapters with the online platform Scalar.
I have also had the pleasure to attend the DHSI in Victoria for the past 6 years (courses on web design, on building an app for the Ipad, on online scholarly collaboration, on text mapping as modeling and on Critical Digital Pedagogy).
