Tatiana Ades is an academic advisor in the Adult Basic Education Program at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY, where she helps support adult students taking high school equivalency classes. She has a BA in English and women, gender, & sexuality studies and is currently a graduate student at the City University of New York. Raised by a single mother who received her GED in NY State in 1992, Tatiana is attuned to the intergenerational economic, social, and educational benefits of supporting adult literacy students. As a first-generation college graduate, she is particularly passionate about supporting underserved students, including LGBTQ and gender non-conforming students, students who were previously incarcerated, and students with disabilities in their educational journeys towards college. Tatiana is a first-year board member for the WithinReach Foundation, a scholarship foundation that provides college scholarships to students who have passed the High School Equivalency exam (TASC) and will begin higher education at a City University of New York (CUNY) College.
