Tatiana Ades is an academic advisor in the adult literacy program at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY and an MA student in American Studies at The Graduate Center, CUNY.
Tatiana Ades is an academic advisor in the adult literacy program at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY, where she helps support adult students taking high school equivalency classes. She has a BA in English and women, gender, & sexuality studies and is pursuing a MA in American Studies and certificate in Interactive Technology & Pedagogy at the Graduate Center, CUNY. Raised by a single mother who received her GED in NY State in 1992, Tatiana is attuned to the intergenerational economic, social, and educational benefits of supporting adult literacy students. As a first-generation high school and college graduate, she is particularly passionate about supporting underserved students, including LGBTQ+ and gender non-conforming students, students who were previously incarcerated, and students with disabilities in their educational journeys towards college. Tatiana is a second-year board member for the WithinReach Foundation, a scholarship foundation that provides college scholarships to students who have passed the High School Equivalency exam (TASC) and will begin higher education at a City University of New York (CUNY) College. Tatiana is a first year member of the Editorial Collective for the Journal of Interactive Technology & Pedagogy where she focuses on community outreach. During the 2020-21 academic year, Tatiana was a Futures Initiative Fellow where she worked on two digital publications I Wake Up Counting: A Transformative Guide to Teaching & Learning in the Humanities & Social Sciences and We Eat: A Student-Centered Cookbook.
