Thomas MacCalla, Ed.D. is the Executive Director of the National University (NUI) for Community Research and Civic/Social Entrepreneurship and University Vice President. He also is an e-Learning curriculum specialist in the humanities and online NU faculty associate. Dr. MacCalla received his master’s degree in educational administration and U.S. History from Fairfield University in Connecticut and doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1964, specializing in educational administration and curriculum, comparative education, and American Literature. In 1977, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in urban planning at the UCLA School of Architecture and Urban Planning. He also served as Vice President for Intercultural/International Studies and Professor of Leadership and Human Behavior at the United States International University, which included administrative assignments in Hawaii, Mexico, England, and Kenya. From 1977 to 1984, Dr. MacCalla served in many leadership positions related to regional urban educational planning, community environmental management, and cross-cultural studies.
