Brief Bio: 

Tom Foster is professor of English at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is the author of Transformations of Domesticity in Modern Women's Writing: Homelessness at Home, and The Souls of Cyberfolk: Posthumanism as Vernacular Theory. For several years, he was general editor of the journal Genders. Before moving to Washington, he served as director of the Cultural Studies Program at Indiana University, and was an adjunct professor in the Cognitive Science Program. He is currently working on a book analyzing the relation between ethnicity and technicity in contemporary science fiction, with special attention to the emergence of writers of color in the genre and the ways that they expropriate and renarrate cyberpunk conventions for the representation of technological embodiment and virtual forms of belonging and community.
