Brief Bio: 

Tessa Joseph-Nicholas is the Director of Digital Arts and Humanities Projects and a Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Cornell University and a PhD in American literature and poetics from UNC-Chapel Hill. She is a co-recipient of a two-year Innovation Grant from UNC's Institute for the Arts and Humanities for the project "Reimagining Gaming: Program in Alternative Games and Digital Innovation" and was named one of two 2013 Digital Innovation Lab/Institute for the Arts and Humanities Faculty Fellows.

Her research interests include American digital culture, digital poetries and poetics, digital humanities and humanities computing, Internet celebrity, instructional technology, and methodologies for teaching programming concepts to humanities students. She teaches COMP 380: Computers and Society, COMP 382: Introduction to Cyberculture, and COMP 388: Advanced Cyberculture Studies for the Computer Science department.
