I teach Shakespeare and early modern literature, with a focus on maritime and ecological approaches to early modern literary culture. I am also interested in the long history of media transformations, including in the early modern period and today.
I've published three books: a collection of essays, *Rogues and Early Modern English Culture* (Michigan, 2004), co-edited with Craig Dionne; *Romance for Sale in Early Modern England* (Ashgate, 2006), and *At the Bottom of Shakespeare's Ocean* (Continuum, 2009). In the summer of 2010 I curated a public gallery exhibition at the Folger Shakespeare Library on maritime culture: "Lost at Sea: The Ocean in the English Imagination, 1550 - 1750" (www.folger.edu/lostatsea).
