I was born in Jamaica. Migrated to the USA with my sister when I was fifteen. I attended Lower Merion High School, Ardmore, PA. In 1977, I began my bachelor’s degree in library science with PA certification (K-12) at Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA. The reason why I chose library science is because as a young girl I was fascinated by my mother’s love for reading. I also loved going to the library to see all the children books that were displayed and was especially intrigued by the daily operations of the library. After two years, I found the library science program wasn’t what I wanted to do because it involved teaching; I decided to drop out of college.
In 1981, I met my husband Patrick, got married and had two children, a son and a daughter both of whom I love to cook for. I was employed at Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers Restaurant where I stayed for two years, then I worked at the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library as a Reference Librarian Assistant where I was able to still pursue my love for libraries. I worked there for five years and was promoted to Head Media Specialist in the Audio Visual Department.
I relocated to Philadelphia from Montgomery County in1988. I accepted a position as Library Assistant in the Campbell Library in the Academy of Food Marketing, Saint Joseph’s University; managing the library operations and assisting students, faculty, alumni and visitors from the business industry with library procedures and general policy. During 2000, I left my position as Library Assistant in the Academy of Food Marketing Campbell Library to be the Archives Assistant/Interlibrary Loan Technician in the Drexel Library, there at Saint Joseph’s. I later returned to the Academy of Food Marketing Campbell Library as Library Assistant. There I was promoted to Library Technician in 2010. I also worked as a part-time Sunday Supervisor at Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library, Rosemont College.
Currently, I am the Library Technician/Stack Manager in the Post Learning Commons and Drexel Library, Saint Joseph’s University. In 2007, I decided to continue with my studies and enrolled in the College of Professional and Liberal Studies program at Saint Joseph’s University. I am currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Organizational Development and Leadership
