Brief Bio: 

Renato Ferreira Leitão Azevedo is a PhD Student in Educational Psychology (Cognitive Science of Teaching and Learning, CSTL) at the Department of Educational Psychology, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Prof. Daniel Morrow and awarded by the prestigious 2012‐2013 William Chandler Bagley Doctoral Scholarship Award. He holds a M.Sc. in Accounting Education & Research from University of Sao Paulo (USP, 2008‐2010) with a complete scholarship provided by CAPES (Brazilian Ministry of Education Funds), B.S. in Information Systems (2003‐2006) and B.S. in ccounting (USP, 2004‐2007), in addition to a Scientific Initiation in Business Education (2006‐2007) with scholarship provided by CNPq (Brazilian Ministry of Science & Technology Funds). He received the highest distinctions for his Master Thesis, entitled: “Public perception of accountants: good‐looking in pictures?” (2010 Best Master Thesis of the Year and Honorable Mention during oral exams), in addition to the “Prof. Dr. Ary Toríbio Award”, as best final term paper. At UIUC, he serves as Research Assistant for the Center for Global Studies (CGS). Renato is a MBA FIPECAFI Instructor for Business Strategy Games and Management Accounting Cases Courses and Research Fellow at University of Sao Paulo (USP) since 2009. He served as Assistant Coordinator from 2008 to 2012 the FIPSE‐CAPES Grant (US Department of Education and Brazilian Ministry of Education), to establish an education consortium between the U.S. (UIUC & UMN) and Brazil (USP & University of Brasilia). Among other experiences, he was a Visiting Graduate Student at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Visiting Scholar at Mercer University (Atlanta, GA), with research grants from these institutions (2008/2009, 2010, 2010‐2011). Regarding to honor societies and professional organizations, he is a member of the Academy of Human Resources Development (AHRD), the American Accounting Association (AAA), the European Accounting Association (EAA), the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER) and reviewer for USP Accounting & Finance Journal. He has published scholarly papers in Argentina, Brazil, United States, France, Finland, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey, and lectures at universities in U.S., Brazil and Mexico. He is also co‐author of a best‐selling book in Brazil (4th edition) in Applied Informatics for Business and Accounting Majors, with Edgard B. Cornacchione Jr.
