Personal Information
My research focuses on social interaction surrounding the reading and writing of texts in online learning environments. I defended my dissertation, Social Presence, Participation, and Interaction in Asynchronous Creative Writing Workshops, in November 2011. I received my B.A. in English from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an M.S. ('04) and Ph.D. ('11) in Information Studies from the School of Information at The University of Texas at Austin. I joined the Syracuse University Library in January 2009, where I am a Humanities Librarian and the subject specialist for English & Textual Studies; Communications & Rhetorical Studies; and Linguistics. Prior to arriving in Syracuse, I served as Web and Instructional Design Librarian at the College of Staten Island / CUNY and Coordinator of CSI’s Center for Excellence in Learning Technology. I have also worked as a graphic designer, an information architect, a community technology consultant, and a dj.
