Nancy Valentine, Ed.D., is a National 4-H Program Leader at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC. Prior to joining the national 4-H staff she was a tenured associate professor at West Virginia University. She holds a B.A. degree in Music Education (K-12), a permanent teaching certificate, a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling Psychology, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. Her first employment was as the director of vocal music in a public high school. She has managed national grant programs that improved the lives of vulnerable populations ($10M)and provided leadership and entrepreneurship opportunities for rural youth ($3M). She has also provided national leadership for 4-H curriculum, health programs, authorization of the 4-H name and emblem, afterschool programming, equine science programs and the development of a 4-H Robotics Badge system. She also provides leadership for the Agriculture in the Classroom program. She has traveled extensively and conducted a special project for the USDA in Zimbabwe, Uganda and Morocco.
