Mona is a PhD student in Arts & Technology program at University of Texas at Dallas with a focus on emerging media and communication.
Mona is a new media artist and educator currently pursuing a PhD at University of Texas at Dallas with a focus on emerging media and communication. Her research involves studying the effects of new media technologies on women’s social development in countries such as Iran. Since 2002, she has been teaching Digital Art and Design courses at California State University, Northridge, Santa Monica College, and University of Texas at Dallas. Interested in incorporating new media technology into teaching, Mona offered her first Distance Education Digital Imaging course in Spring 2008, after which she has been constantly modifying her content delivery methods to more effectively engage students in a valuable online learning experience. As a dedicated artist, Mona’s videos have been displayed in a few exhibitions and festivals both in gallery settings or online. She was a guest speaker at Dallas Museum of Modern Art “Art Bytes” program in April 2009 and her most recent video work “ in my entirety” was screened in "Launch" exhibition at Art Lab presented by the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas in July 2009. Mona has served as the Art & Design Galleries Coordinator at the SIGGRAPH International Conference & Exhibition since 2008 where she has had the opportunity to work with many prominent artists, designers, and educators from around the world. Mona holds a B.A. in Graphic Design and an M.F.A. in Video/Digital Art.
