Miriam Sweeney joined the faculty of the School of Library and Information Studies in 2013. She is currently finishing her PhD at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science where is also an IMLS funded Information and Society fellow.
Sweeney’s current research agenda explores identity politics and ethical issues associated with anthropomorphization as an interface design strategy. Her research examines how beliefs about gender, race, sexuality, and labor are not only embedded in these systems, but also are key in how users make meaning of technology.
