Michael Subialka
Personal Information
Michael is a researcher and teacher working at the intersection of literature and philosophy and with interests in theater, performance studies, and cinema studies.
Michael researches and teaches modern Italian literature and culture in a comparative context (with interest in German, French, and British literature and thought). He also produces and directs Italian theatre at Oxford, where he coordinates the Early Career Researchers Writing Workshop and is a member of the Oxford Early Career Academic Outreach Network. Previously he has taught literature and philosophy at Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) and at the University of Chicago, where he also developed a widening access summer course with an intensive focus on written and verbal argumentation and rhetoric. He received his PhD with Honors from the University of Chicago from the Committee on Social Thought and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.
