Meghan M. Welch is a Ph.D. candidate in Early Childhood Education at Georgia State University. Her research interests include digital literacies, multimodal learning, and child development. She has recently published articles that discuss digital tools for young children and explore issues of access and participation around technology. In her current role as a doctoral fellow for Best Practices in the Department of Early Childhood Education, she conducts webinars, produces podcasts, and conducts face-to-face training for the Georgia PreK teachers and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.
Meghan’s professional experience includes work at two PBS affiliates. At WTTW in Chicago, she created supplemental teacher materials linked to researched young children’s media while she earned her Masters in Child Development from Erikson Institute. Upon graduation, she continued her work in public media at Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), a statewide agency in Atlanta, GA. In the Education and Outreach department at GPB, she worked with the Ready to Learn initiative and wrote and administered over $150K in grants. She also collaborated on the design of original media products for young children that are used by state and national audiences.
Meghan has served on the board of the Georgia Association on Young Children and is currently a member of the Technology Committee at Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta.
