Full Bio:

Meredith Carroll is a junior and a history major at Grinnell College. She recently finished a summer internship in New York City's Museum at Eldridge Street, a renovated 1887 synagogue where she gave tours, blogged about the building's history, and researched the immigrant communities of New York's Lower East Side. She is currently participating in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest's Newberry Seminar in the Humanities, which this semester centers on the relationships between knowledge, technology, and power. Her research within the seminar explores Darwinism as it was presented to popular audiences between 1859 and 1880: a time period that did not merely shape the discourse around Darwinism but also saw popular science and professional science diverge.
