I’m a PhD student in history at the University of Aberdeen, holding an Authority and Text studentship. I hold a Master of Letters in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies from the Centre for Early Modern Studies at the University of Aberdeen and an Honours Bachelor of Theology (Magna Cum Laude) from Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Canada.
I’m an intellectual historian of European colonialism, interested in metropolitan discourses of the colonial Other and how those discourses shaped European thought. My current research focuses on the influence of colonial slavery on Hugo Grotius' rights theory.
I am fluent in English and French, have completed German courses to level A1 in the CEFR, and have some knowledge of Swedish. I have one year of study each of Classical Hebrew, Koine Greek, and Latin.
