Brief Bio: 

Matthew Battles is associate director of metaLAB at Harvard and a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, where he pursues research into critical and curatorial dimensions of technology in art, culture, and the sciences. He writes broadly on technology and culture for such venues as The Atlantic Monthly and The New York TImes, and has an abiding interest in the history and changing roles of libraries in culture: his book Library: an Unquiet History (Norton 2003) is available in eight languages worldwide and has been in print since 2003; and with Jeffrey Schnapp, he is the author of The Library Beyond the Book (Harvard 2014).
