Personal Information

Brief Bio: 

I am a non-traditional student, having graduated this year with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and an emphasis in elementary education. Through my degree and prior work with children, I have begun to develop a vision for ways we could change our approach to education, centering child input and perspectives instead of constructing the classroom as top-down and adult-centered. In the future, I anticipate studying childism (prejudice against children) and its effects on children in educational settings. I am an artist, using art directly for my own qualitative expression as well as indirectly to create qualitative space in otherwise heavily quantitative environments such as the elementary school classroom. My research has explored art marginalization in classrooms as well as the impacts of artistic pursuits on the children who perform them.
