Kristen Galvin is a second-year PhD student in the Visual Studies Department at the University of California, Irvine, as well as a practicing media artist. Her scholarly interests include media and performance art, with an emphasis on practices that critically engage appropriation, the politics of gender and sexuality, and digital culture. She has shown her videos internationally in film festivals and galleries, screening this past year at The Boston LGBT Film Festival; MIX 22- The New York Queer Experimental Film Festival; and Xtremendous, 8th Biennial International Queer Arts Festival of Regina, Canada. Kristen holds an MFA in Studio Art and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Art, Criticism and Theory from Purchase College, SUNY; and a BA from Brown University.
