Kerri Lynne Thorp is a senior studying Sociology at Mills College in Oakland, CA.
Kerri Lynne Thorp is currently completing her B.A. in Sociology at Mills College, where her research interests include topics on the intersection of social control and technology, such as presentation of race and gender in digital spaces, social control online, the expanding American surveillance society and the role of an antiquated criminal justice system in the digital age. Kerri has a professional history in digital media post production and hobbies that include experimental music composition, a background that has evolved into an academic interest in intellectual property law and remix culture. Kerri recently received a grant from the Institute of Civic Leadership to examine the relationship between sentencing practices in homicide cases and the information culture of the District Attorney’s office.
