I teach art history and American Studies to undergrad non majors at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. My research interests include monuments, World War One, 1940s visual culture, material culture, the display of political portraits, and public art.
I teach Art of the United States, Commemorative Practices, Art of Social Change, Art in New York City, and Public Art. I am co-editor of the journal, Public Art Dialogue.
My book on WWI memorial sculpture, Sculpting Doughboys: Memory, Gender, and Taste in America's World War I Memorials, was published in 2013. I also have written about public engagement in museums and the display of FDR portraits in domestic settings. I’m currently working on a book length project about public and private displays of portraits of 20th- and 21st-century U.S. presidents.
