Jason W. Buel is a Ph.D. student in the Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program at North Carolina State University. He also holds an M.A in English with a concentration in film studies. His research focuses on digital documentaries, the use of non-fiction film and video in social justice movements, and the media ecologies of contemporary protest movements. He is primarily interested in how communities are formed, reshaped, and represented through the creation and circulation of moving images, media paratexts, and communication technologies. He is also interested in interactions between online and offline spaces within the context of social justice movements.
