Josh is a PhD candidate at Clemson University, studying affect, identity, and game design. He’s currently working on a traditional dissertation and an autobiographical video game to accompany it, called Codex Switch. It presents experiences of multiraciality and how multi-raced people form identities, all through the mechanics of a platformer and Aztec and Chicano imagery. He also studies game-based approaches to learning, and researched and experimented with importing role-playing game mechanics into the classroom.
