I am a scholar of gender and Caribbean culture, and I would like to bring to that work a digital humanities perspective. I was part of a digital humanities panel organized by Alex Gil at the Caribbean Studies Association Conference in 2011. I presented on Caribbean diasporic writers and their use of social media. This position interests me because I would like to participate in curating information related to Caribbean studies for a larger audience as well as learning more about how I might use data visualization in my teaching and research. I also work in mothering studies, and have been quite involved in teaching that subject online and starting a blog related to work conditions for parents in the academy.
