My name is Jeanelle D. Horcasitas. I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of California, San Diego. I received my bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. I am a proud first-generation college student, Chicana, daughter of immigrants, and from a working class family. My research interests include Multi-Ethnic Literature and Film, Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction, Digital Humanities, Immigration, Technology, Labor, Biopolitics, and Critical Race Theory. I am currently a Teaching Assistant for the Literature’s in English Multi-Ethnic sequence, an Adjunct Professor of English for San Diego Miramar Community College and a Graduate Career Peer Educator. I am extremely interested in learning more about digital humanities and digital pedagogy. I am a part of the DH research group at UC San Diego and hope to expand my knowledge as a HASTAC scholar so that I may implement some of these wonderful practices and ideas to my campus, as well as meet all of the wonderful individuals working on these types of projects across the country.

Please feel free to view the digital companion I created for my qualifying paper in Winter 2017:

I am extremely excited to be a part of the HASTAC community!
