Jeffrey Jamerson has over 20 years of experience in the public sector. He has served at-risk youth in various capacities, most recently as the VP of Programs and Services at Aviva Family and Children Services in Los Angeles, CA.
Jeff previously served as the Division Director of Therapeutic Family Services at Five Acres in Pasadena, CA, where he managed the development, quality and delivery of services within the Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) program, Wraparound program and Pasadena Mental Health Center (PMHC).
Jeff holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS).
His early work as a filmmaker, disc jockey (DJ), and break-dancer showed him the power of story and creative self-expression to heal the psyche. His exploration of spirituality and consciousness led him to believe that the images and stories we hold in our imaginations have a powerful effect on how we live our lives.
Hoping to create a shift in how therapy is conducted with foster children, he has integrated Narrative and Expressive Arts modalities with Digital Media Art, which he calls Expressive Remix Therapy.
The objective of Remix Therapy is to facilitate a child or youth’s ability to re-vision a life story into a transformational narrative of strength and survival, utilizing digital media assets (Ipads, laptops, digital pictures, music and voice over).
Blending solid theoretical approaches with cutting edge audio/visual technologies, Jeff hopes to engage these young people who are often resistant to traditional talk therapy.
