Heather Draxl is a doctoral candidate in Language, Literacy and Culture at the University of Iowa. Her research focuses on the intersection of public scholarship, civic engagement, first-year composition, and technology. She currently works as an instructional technology consultant at the University of Iowa and teaches composition at nearby Kirkwood Community College. Her dissertation will focus on service-learning in first-year composition. She is also interested in social justice issues related to access to technologies, as well as flipping classrooms and making instructional videos, particularly those that endeavor to teach about language or literacy.
