Language education, technology in education, learner autonomy, and other stuff too.
I have taught English language skills and content-based courses at universities in Japan for many years. I am now very happy to be teaching in a new program: the Faculty of International Social Sciences at Gakushuin University. With my colleagues I am researching Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in higher education contexts in East and Southeast Asia. Studying the linguistic landscapes of Tokyo and elsewhere fascinates me. I served on the Board of Directors for the Japan Association for Language Teaching (2012-2016) and as a Vice President for IAFOR: The International Academic Forum (2017-2019). I am a member of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education (ICLHE), and the Japan CLIL Pedagogy Association (J-CLIL).
