Gabriela T. Richard is an ABD doctoral candidate (and adjunct instructor) whose research focuses on understanding the intersection between culture, experience, media and learning. She is finishing her dissertation on gender, intersectionality and video game culture, which takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding gender (and its intersections with ethnicity and sexuality) as reflexively experienced in video game culture and online communities. She has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the American Association of University Women in support of her research. She has a master’s from the Interactive Telecommunications Program and an undergraduate degree in media, culture and communication. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at CUNY and NYU on educational psychology, interactive design for learning and the design of games for learning.
