I received my PhD in Film Studies from the University of Bologna in 2009. I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Universities of Bologna and LImoges, as well as a visiting scholar at King's College London. From January 2013 I've been Research Fellow at the Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities, Queen's University Belfast. My dissertation on the image of the in superhero films and comics was published under the title "Grattacieli e superuomini: L'immagine della metropoli tra cinema e fumetto" (Genoa: 2010). My current work deals with the transnational circulation of crime series in film and literature at the beginning of the twentieth century, and with the origins of comics in nineteenth-century Europe. My work has been published in peer-review journals such as Adaption, Journal of European Popular Culture, Belphégor, Studies in Comics and Miranda.
