Elliott Valentine is a Sociology and History double major at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. Originally from Farmington Hills, Michigan, Elliott has been a native of Mason, Ohio for 11 years.
Elliott's two years of academic exploration and mentored research at Wooster has led him to participate in the 2014 Newberry Seminar at the Newberry Library in Chicago, Illinois for the Fall semester of his junior year as an undergraduate.
Though he has yet to designate any specific research interest, Elliott's past research has focused upon modernity, globalization, national identity and other diverse topics. At the Newberry, Elliott hopes to expand his understanding of these topics while also exploring unique parts of the Newberry's collections, including cartography and travel. Looking beyond his semester off-campus, Elliott looks forward to synthesizing the two disciplines of his majors into a Senior Independent Study at Wooster and exploring opportunities for graduate school or forms of professional scholarship.
