Full Bio:

I was born in Mexico City and live in London, United Kingdom. I got a PhD in Information Studies from University College London. I lecture on Library Science at the Center for Information Science, School of Informatics, City University London. I am currently the course director of the MSc/MA in Electronic Publishing there. My main interests revolve around the history of the book and print technologies, electronic publishing, digital journalism, social media, digital libraries, digitization, comic books, memory and narrative, technology and the body, electronic art and media. I wrote my PhD thesis about the materiality of comic books and digital media (UCL, 2010). My MA thesis discussed traumatic structure in graphic narrative in Art Spiegelman's Maus (UEA Norwich, 2003); and my BA thesis (yes, you do those at UNAM, at lengths matching those of British MAs and often even PhDs!) explored how narratology could be used in the analysis of Watchmen (UNAM, 2001). I have written about graphic narrative for the Nieman Storyboard of Harvard University and digital engagement for Inside Higher Education/University of Venus amongst other online and print publications. During the Summer 2009 I was an intern at the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University. Before that I taught XIX and XX century European, English and American Literature, Literary Criticism and Postmodern Critical Theory to undergraduate students at UNAM and Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico, between 2001 and 2006. I am the author of four single-author books of poems published in the United States, Australia and England. I am one of four international curators of "The Chained Hay(na)ku Project", a poetry anthology result of a collective online call for collaborative poems. (Meritage Press/Xpress-Ed, 2010). I have blogged since 2001 and tweet from @ernestopriego since 2009. I am the editor-in-chief of The Comics Grid. Journal of Comics Scholarship:
