I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at West Virginia University. My dissertation entitled “The Radioactive Postcolonial: How Nuclear Hypermasculinity Taught Us to Love and Live in Fear of the Bomb” focuses on the influence of nuclear rhetoric on representations of masculinity in postcolonial and western cultural artifacts. My other research interests lie in digital humanities, 20th and 21st century American and South-East Asian Literature. I completed my M.Litt (Master of Letters) from the University of Glasgow in 2009, where I was awarded the “Glasgow Postgraduate Excellence Scholarship.” Recently, I was awarded the “Richard Tuerk ‘Out of This World’ Paper Award for Science Fiction and Fantasy” at the South West Texas PCA/ACA 2012 conference.
