Di Liu is a second year Master candidate at Georgetown University in Communication, Culture and Technology program. Her major interest lies in digital humanities, specifically, the making of digital text. Starting from studying the text and marginalia in Dreams of the Red Chamber, a classical Chinese novel, she has been pursuing the new possibilities of integrating knowledge from various fields, including literature, art and culture into digital text. Her undergoing project is the hypertext of selected chapters from Dreams of the Red Chamber, which focuses on hyperlinking relative poetry, music, opera, as well as pictures of traditional Chinese finery and wares with the original text. Also, she is interested in the presentation of bilingual text: how to enhance user’s interaction between the two languages through program design and multimedia elements on new media platforms.
