Daniel Stein is classically trained violinist, educator and music producer. He holds a M.M. and a D.M. from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In addition to performing and teaching activities, he worked at the Latin American Music Center (LAMC) at Indiana University were he was also one of the coaches for the Latin American Popular Music Ensemble and Associate producer for the LAMC. Currently Daniel is a Post-Doc Researcher University of Notre Dame (Sacred Music).
Daniel Stein is a classically trained violinist and educator who also specializes in tango and klezmer performance practice.
An advocate of chamber and new music, Daniel has recorded and premiered pieces by several composers, including Alon Nechustan (Israel-USA), Tatiana Catanzaro (Brazil-France), Rodoldo Valente (Brazil), and Daniel Highman (USA), among many others.
While touring, he has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with classical and popular artists such as Sylvia McNair, Frank London, Raul Jaurena, Pablo Aslan, Hector del Curto among many others.
As part of the cast of This is Tango Now‘s production Identidad he has also worked with Tony award winning dancers Fernanda Gui and Guillermo Merlo.
Additionally, Daniel is an associate producer for the Latin American Music Center at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he is also one of the main coaches of the Center’s Popular Music Ensemble.
He has produced CDs for Grammy award winner Sylvia McNair (Peace-2011) and IUmusic/LAMC (Eco de Violin, Piano de Pampa y Jungla, and Paisaje Urbano, among others). In the 2012-13 season he will be managing the IU String Academy’s tour of Argentina and Brazil.
Daniel holds an MM and DM in violin performance from Indiana University where he studied violin with Nelli Shkolnikova and historical performances with Stanley Ritchie.
