Daniel B. Domingues da Silva is assistant professor of African history at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA, and consultant for the African Origins Portal (www.african-origins.org). Daniel received his Ph.D. in history in 2011 from Emory University, Atlanta. His research focuses on the history of the slave trade from Angola and it received funding from several institutions, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Daniel's research is available to the public in peer-reviewed journals in English and Portuguese, such as the Journal of African History, Slavery and Abolition, and Revista Afro-Ásia.
