I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Princeton Theological Seminary. Before coming to Vanderbilt, I worked as a middle and high school teacher, a youth minister, and a hospital chaplain. Now while finishing up the dissertation, I am currently working as a Graduate Teaching Fellow for Vanderbilt's Center for Teaching and a PRN chaplain for the St. Thomas Medical System. My research interests include the intersections of theology, political theory, women's and gender studies, and psychoanalysis. The dissertation seeks to place the practice of hospital chaplaincy within the biopolitical trajectory of contemporary health care. It is titled: "Chaplaincy in the Modern Health Care System: Presence, Dying, and Community in the Advance and Subversion of Biopolitics."
