Jacob Alden Sargent
Jacob Alden Sargent earned his BA in Music and Sociology from Bates College and his PhD in Sociology from the University of Virginia. He publishes on labor, technology, and gender and has taught courses on public sociology, social movements, identity politics, higher education, new media, and gender. He is currently examining the social implications of big data and changing labor markets in academia while working as an alt-ac on the significance of digital communications and methods within a liberal arts education. He currently teaches in the Cultural Studies program at Occidental College where he is also the Associate Director for Instruction and Research in the Center for Digital Liberal Arts.
