Amanda Shuman
Personal Information
I am working on a PhD in modern East Asian history at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I research sports competitions and socialist athletes in the People's Republic of China. Simultaneously, I am working with two professors on a website project related to World War II memories in Japan and the United States, while assisting the Institute for Humanities in digital humanities initiatives.
Prior to beginning my doctoral studies at UCSC I worked for over three years at the Center for History and New Media (http://chnm.gmu.edu) at George Mason University as a web developer, research assistant, and webmaster. Digital humanities are and have been a reality of my life for some time.
