Women in Science, Innovation and Technology in the Digital Age

Reblogged from http://www.asszisztencia.hu/ntit/

I would like to warmly invite you to the Hungarian capital Budapest to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, by joining "Women in Science, Innovation and Technology in the Digital Age", the Joint High-level Conference organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General Information Society and Media(INFSO) and the Hungarian EU Presidency.

This year's 100th anniversary of Woman's Day is a special chance to look forward by focusing on the female talent in the Digital Age.

The conference will highlight the important contribution women and girls are making in the area of ICT, technology and innovation. There will be a special focus on how to measurably increase their presence across the board in these fields: in education, research and innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce and leadership roles.

Our effort to build a more sustainable economy and society through digital innovation depends on women's involvement. Their contributions will be critical given our demographic development and the increasing unfilled demand for ICT practitioners. For this business, government, and educators have work together across disciplines.

Joining us for this conference will help us get one step closer to our common ambition. I look forward to the dynamic that will be created by so many high-level representatives of European public and private stakeholders, academia and NGOs.

Let's make this the Conference that will be remembered as the event where the real change in the attitude towards Women and technology came about.

Neelie Kroes
Commissioner for the Digital Agenda
