HASTAC@Duke and the Duke STEAM Challenge present an afternoon visit with the SparkTruck this Friday, August 9 from 1-3pm. The SparkTruck, a mobile makerspace filled with 3-D printers, laser-cutters and other 21st Century shop tools, began as SparkLab- a group of Stanford students curious about making, education and technology. Their goal is to inspire creative confidence in youth and we are thrilled to host a stop at Duke University as part of their cross country summer tour. The SparkTruck will be parked in the Visitor Lot across from Bay 1 at the Smith Warehouse (114 S. Buchanan Blvd), which is on Maxwell Ave. just off Buchanan Blvd.
If you have any questions, please contact Kristan Shawgo, Special Projects Manager at HASTAC, at kristan.shawgo [at] duke.edu.
Also, if you can’t make it on Friday or you are looking for a more K-12 oriented SparkTruck experience, they will be making a stop on Saturday, August 10 at Durham’s Museum of Life + Science for the Museum’s Engineers Day event.
