Scalar Tutorial

Tuesday, January 20, 2015 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

In this workshop, we’ll be learning about the online publishing platform, Scalar. Scalar can be used to author all kinds of born-digital documents and embeds many kinds of media quite easily. The platform is built to support multi-authored documents and provided for reader commentary and annotation. In addition, the Scalar community has been developing many exciting new capabilities include server side support for ARC2, PHP, and MySQL and client side support of jQuery and RDF. Visualization possibilities include Storymap, Neatline, TimelineJS, and Tiki-Toki. We will explore some of these extensions and how to embed them, uses for Scalar in the classroom, and the applicability of Scalar to publishing your own scholarship.
