Position Available: Freelance Project Manager for Crowdsourcing in the Humanities

A Freelance Creative Project Manager is invited to apply to join up with a dynamic and creative research group involved with games and technical systems. We are seeking a 4-6 month creative project manager (with possible extension) to finalize the development and outreach of the crowdsourcing game platform Metadata Games (metadatagames.org) and the initiatives from the newly formed Crowd Consortium (CrowdConsoritium.org), a group that helps libraries, archives and other cultural heritage institutions learn about, and use, crowdsourcing tools. Those with experience in (and a passion for) digital humanities projects, collaborative crowdsourcing projects, open source participatory software, and more should apply. He or she will be responsible for the leadership of laboratory projects, including but not limited to the following: overseeing technical details of software or print production; managing creative teams to stay on time and on budget; coordinating communications both within the group and to the outside through social media channels and written reports; contributing creatively to design as well as outreach; coding familiarity; organizing the backup and organization of data and software; The ability to think of the big picture ideas behind the project as well as to attend to the details of a project is key. Direct experience leading software projects (including game creation and server side development) is a plus.

The position requires a good communicator with flexibility, a positive attitude, and a creative, inventive approach. Interest in open source and creative projects with social impact a plus. 3+ years of experience a plus but we will consider the right recent graduate as well with a project portfolio.
