Several PhD Scholarships available at the University of Leeds

ESRC White Rose Doctoral Training Centre Studentship

The Economic & Social Research Council is the UK’s main provider of postgraduate awards in the areas of economic and social sciences. The University of Leeds has been allocated a number of studentships as part of the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre, a major collaboration between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. One of these awards is in the area of Communications and Media Studies and is available on either a 1+3 or +3 basis.

1+3 Studentships consist of a full-time integrated research-training Masters with a 3-year PhD programme.

+3 Studentships are for full-time 3-year PhD study for applicants who have already completed an ESRC-recognised Master’s Degree or appropriate research training programme.

The awards are for study commencing 1 October 2013, and cover full fees and maintenance.

Note: these awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate.

Closing date for applications: 1 February 2013

Other sources of funding at the University of Leeds

Scholarships are available from a number of additional sources for study at ICS. These include fully funded scholarships for home and EU applicants, for international applicants, and a number of fees-only scholarships.

The closing dates for these vary and you are encouraged to consider applying for support as early as possible. Please note: in most cases you do not need to have received an offer of a place to study before applying for a scholarship, so do not delay considering a scholarship application.

Please note: all scholarship applicants MUST first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a University BANNER ID Number to be eligible for a University Research Scholarship. Applications without a valid University ID Number will be rejected.
