In this Digital Friday, Christina Katopodis will talk about publicly annotating a text using Manifold and maintaining an open dialogue between class meetings using a class hashtag on Twitter. As more classes go online, these two platforms can help to build and maintain a sense of community in a class, easing feelings of isolation in an asynchronous distance learning model. Katopodis will offer some ideas for how to get started and then facilitate a discussion while participants explore these platforms and think through how they might use them in their own virtual classes.
Christina Katopodis is a PhD Candidate in English and Futures Initiative Fellow at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and an adjunct instructor at Hunter College. She is currently co-authoring a book with Cathy Davidson, Transforming Every Classroom: A Practical Guide (under contract to Harvard University Press, anticipated 2022).
