Lecturers in Composition/Rhetoric

The University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for multiple Lecturers in Composition/Rhetoric. These are full-time, renewable positions with appointment terms of one to five years with a nine-month service period beginning on September 16, 2016. The successful candidates will be intellectually expansive scholars trained in composition/rhetoric or closely related field and able to teach classes in composition, rhetoric, and writing. Successful candidates will have experience in lower-division composition curriculum development and student engagement, and at least three years of college or university teaching experience. We seek candidates with demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations, prepared to mentor and engage students, and offer support for students and student organizations, who are eager to further UW Tacoma’s goal of building a culturally diverse educational environment. Candidates must have a master’s degree or higher (or foreign equivalent) in Composition/Rhetoric or a related field.

We welcome applicants representing diverse perspectives and approaches. These positions primarily support the lower division core composition curriculum and contribute to the Writing Studies major (including Technical Communication and Creative Writing), and also contribute to other interdisciplinary majors at UW Tacoma. The successful candidate will teach courses in composition such as the following: Introduction to Academic Writing, Argument and Research in Writing, Discourse Foundations, Academic Writing I & II, Written and Visual Rhetoric, and Teaching Writing.
