The Graduate Student Association of the Department of Art, Art History, and Visual Studies at Duke University announces its annual Graduate Student Symposium, to be held this year on February 7.
Dr. Verity Platt of Cornell University's Department of the History of Art and Visual Studies will participate as the keynote speaker. Dr. Platt is a renowned scholar in Greek and Roman art, with special interest in the aesthetics of the sacred, ancient theories of representation, the relationship between image and text, the creative lives in antiquity, Roman wall-painting and funerary art, Graeco-Roman seal-stones, Hellenistic and Second Sophistic literature.
