I wanted to share the details for the international Gender & Geography Bibliography Hackathon, which will take place on Monday, November 16th through Sunday, November 22nd, during Geography Awareness Week.
For the last five years, a team about 22 women from around the world to move the original GGB 3,600+ citations into Zotero. This month, the next phase begins! We have over 50 committed scholars on 6 continents and across the disciplines bringing together other faculty, students, staff, and interested citizens to expand the bibliography. We are particularly keen to have folks contribute books, book chapters, and multimedia citations from across disciplines, and we are extremely eager for contributions of non-English materials. Folks can work on their own or form their own groups. The video and link at the end of this message explain more about the GGBH.
A hackathon is a time when a group of people come together to work on a digital project, usually by coding and creating content for an app or website. Skills and time involved are minimal. The outcome is a profound source of public knowledge across fields, as well as training in the citation management software, Zotero.
If you are looking for more extra credit options for your students, please send them my way! Please feel free to forward this message to colleagues or students who may the GGBH of interest.
