Game Changer Chicago
(an organization that I co-founded with Melissa Gilliam at the University of Chicago) is looking to hire a Director for our new "Design Lab." The Lab will continue to produce a number of computer game and digital stortytelling projects with youth. Our projects (ranging from alternate reality games to online games to card games to personal video narratives) focus on social systems and health topics. We have recently hired two full-time game designers and have other members working in the areas of storytelling, digital learning, evaluation, and medicine. We also have our first interdisciplinary class of undergraduate and graduate Lab fellows joining in a few weeks. Here is a brief description of Game Changer:
"Game Changer Chicago is a signature initiative of the Center for Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Innovation in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Ci3) that uses gameplay and game design to create youth-directed, problem-based, collaborative, and networked learning opportunities. Games are co-created in workshops with urban youth and combine educator and student perspectives on the biological, psychological, social and political systems surrounding sexual and reproductive health. School-based curricula focus on increasing knowledge, improving self-efficacy, and supporting healthy behavior and relationships while exploring emerging strategies for education in a digital age."
