Alan Liu lecture: "From Reading to Social Computing"

Helping us to celebrate the formal launch of the CDH will be Alan Liu, Chair of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  He is the director of many web projects, and has published widely on the relations between literary study and the new culture of information.  Among his publications is The Laws of Cool: The Culture of Information (University of Chicago Press, 2004).

Time:  Thursday, September 9, 4 pm.  Reception to follow.

Place:  Lumpkin Auditorium, 8th floor of the Moore School of Business

In his talk, "From Reading to Social Computing," Liu will explore how literary study can incorporate the new social networking and other socially-oriented technologies to recover, and extend, the collective dimension of experiencing literature. He will also provide a sneak peak at RoSE, the new Research-oriented Social Environment his collaborative group has been building.
